            Hallo Chay

            This is a mod. 1937 cap badge of the Royal Finance Guard. With the circular order no. 363 - 8442 of the Secretarial Office (Order sheet no. 61 of December 15, 1937), it was stated that, from June 1938, the personnel of the Royal Finance Guard would use a new model. In substance, the novelty was about the flame of the badge, designed in such a way that the volutes (the tongues of fire) appeared in the wind and exactly moving toward right for those looking at the trophy frontally. In the year 1939, with circular order no. 246 - 57061 of the Secretarial Office (Order sheet no. 40 of August 12, 1939) the yellow rayon badge for the cap and the alpine hat was abolished and replaced by a metallic badge of the same shape and size as the previous one. This new metal badge was made in two versions, one with folding tabs and one with flanges on the flame, both necessary for fastening the same over the various headdresses. I have also to say that this badge was used even after the war (1948 - 1958).

            Best regards

                      GAF = Guardia alla frontiera = Border milice;
                      GdF = Guardia di Finanza = Economic Police.
                      They are not the same thing.
