    10 Reggimento Genio at Alamein

What unit was the badge shown below used by? It seems to be the 10 Reggimento Genio, and the site selling this claims they were involved at Alamein: http://www.kubel1943.it/dettaglio.php?id=1982
However, when I google the unit, I dont ever find them listed in the orders of battle or mentionned in any Alamein related webpages. They are mentionned as being attached to the Ariete, but I am not sure if this was already the case during WWII.
Is the badge perhaps for a 10th Company of some other Engineer regiment?
Can anyone confirm what unit this badge was used by, and if that unit was involved in North Africa in 1942?

    Thanks

..well the site said that the XXVII Battalion "Genio Artieri" was involved at El alamein and that is true due to it was part of the XXI corpo d'armata , the 10th Regiment Genio was located in Italy supporting and deployed his battalions to all war fronts, so it is plausible,.. to accept the story behind the cap is another thing...
the 10 Reg. was part of the Ariete after the war (as also confirmed on the Italian Army website.).
    ciao

OK, thank you for confirming that the 10th Reggimento Genio itself was not involved at Alamein.
Even if troops from that unit were transfered to Alamein, I see no reason why they would have worn the 10 Genio badge.

..If I remeber an old discussion on this matter due to the battalions of a Genio Regiment were always splitted in different destination, the Battalion maintained usually the numbering of the Regiment where it was created, so the number 10 could be correct.( i dont know if the XXVII coming from the 10 regiment)
        Ciao
