      Hallo Didier

This is a souvenir-object that mimics a sword for the Italian Academies' cadets. No ACS = squad leaders cadets that was a short course intended for non-commissioned officers. BTW, I grew and spent my holidays (when I was a teen) near the Artillery School of Bracciano and I remember well the AUC (Complement Cadet Officers) and the ACS on leave in the streets of the town. The MAK π 100 is a traditional ceremony of the 2nd year of the Italian Military Academies (and the 3rd year of the Military Schools). It derives from an interpretation of an ancient (1840) phrase in Piedmontese dialect meaning "it lacks only one hundred days" (to the coveted end of the course).

      Best regards

I have opened the site. But you have to know that the ACS personnel didn't wore a sword (or if you prefer a dagger) as per regulation. The ACS course lasted six months; the third month, if suitable, they were promoted to corporal's rank , otherwise they had to leave the course. At the end of the complexive period, after an examination, if positive they were all promoted corporals and transferred to the Corps of destination, where they spent a 12 months period as sergeants; at the end of the required time period they had the opportunity for a longer terms' service duty (5 years) and finally, unless in the meantime they decided to take the leave, they could transit in the effective permanent service, winning a particular contest. The ACS have been introduced in the Italian Armed Forces during the sixties and, if I remember well, abolished at the end of the seventies.
This souvenir-dagger is an Academy (or Military School) type and that 16 is the numbering of the course (respectively for career officers cadets or young students of the final three years of high school) to be searched.

          Best regards

I'm not a collector of italian daggers but, at first glance, it doesn't remember me the pattern currently (and by many years) used by the Academies of the Army and the Finance Guard. If I'm right it could be also a dagger used by the Academies of the Navy or Air Force or by the Military Schools of the Army (Nunziatella School of Naples and Teuliè School of Milan), Navy (Morosini School of Venice) and Air Force (Douhet School of Florence). So, the field of research is quite large. Since the specimen is exactly the career officers cadets one, we can rule out the dagger, assigned during different but recent times to the Non-Commissioned Officers' Schools (for example the Army NCOs School of Viterbo) which show a completely different design. With regards to the MAK P 100 this festive event was extended during the times in a semi-official way to all the courses of a military nature, imitating the typical tradition of the Army Academy of Modena, up to many civilian high schools also.

              best regards

                    Hallo Andrea

Good eye and a nice research

At this point we can conclude that it was a souvenir-pin for their MAK P 100 and consequently made in 1961.

                    Well done and best regards
