    CSIR Fronte russo variant

What do you say about this badge?
It has the abbreviated brand and the color is really strange.

the details are beautiful but the brooch on the back I do not like

Why it should be a copy for someone and genuine for the rest, can you explain the yes/not opinions of the italian forum?
..and anyhow this is not a "variant" it is the original set-up ( that the most of vets buy and wear on wartime period)the variant are the ones with the safety pin( that was mainly found after the war....)

I agree. It looks like from the first production batch.
The later lots were produced with a different pin setup, that was considered more solid and reliable.

I dont think the later production was done with safety pin to be more solid and safe the most of WH awards were done with the same set/up, I think it was done only to reduce production cost on last war year, and mainly on post war period:
                - Original set up required brooche hinge and catch, plus two brazing ( high lorioli quality)
                - second set up standard safety pin & one brazing..
                Ciao

The problem is not the brooch vertical or oblique.

I think we all know that in the beginning the badges were with vertical pin and then, to reduce costs, has been moved.

the variant is the abbreviated trademark and the color that is almost yellow...

this is the mine and as you can see the mark is long

                    Fronte russo

It is the first time I heard that the one marked "milano roma" is a prototype, that due to Lorioli used to mark with each two address style, and anyhow I saw some with this kind of marking "reduced" and nobody had dubt it is genuine and nobody says in the past it was a prototipe.... we can say that maybe is less common than the other one, that because the huge quantity found after war in Milan (with safety pin added) were the ones with the complete address.( maybe because were manufatured there?).
The color is also not so unusual, the type in zamak were probably bronzed as primer coat and after silver painted , Silver and bronze coat disappear in the most of zamak badge during the years ( depending from the storage condition).
I do not see any problem here.
                    Ciao

agree nothing wrong in this badge. In photo the badge of my collection.
                      cheers

P.S. the "story" of the prototype is an most popular idea of many collectors at moment not exist confirm; for sure
this is the badge first war time production. Lorioli factory sometimes changes the back side words of some badge.

an good thread about this one with the comparison of two badge original and repro:

"six italians, dressed in rather unusual diving suits and equipped with materials of laughably little cost have swung the military balance of power in the Mediterranean in favour of the Axis".
