Picked this PAI badge up some while back at my local military fair...mainly because its had its crown removed ..cut off !!..i know this was done with other post 43 insignia ..but not seen it done to one of these before...any one else got one like it ?...Semovente.

It's an oddity to cut the crown and leave the "Savoia knot": who cut the crown did not know the meaning of the knot.Comment

About the loyalty of the PAI to the Duce , it is to be pointed out as an exemple the sad story of the General Maraffa commander of the Pai , who refused to join RSI,was arrested and died in Dachau.Comment

is the old same story ... it's easier took off eagles and other royal insignia from badges and uniforms instead of add something . I've found really few PAI accessories with those part removed versus Regio Esercito ( in % of course ) . One of the rarest PAI item without crown and Nodo Savoia is mod 33 helmet ... only 4 knownComment

Ciao Paolo..thanks indeed...well its the only one so far that i have come across like it and i do look out for them as its always a nice badge to find...came close one time to a PAI knife also..but dealer wanted too much for it..but those helmets sound very interesting !....cheers
