I.m.o. it is a die cast medal. If possible,test if the medal is solid bronze or bronzed white metal and the weight with a precision scale.

Not sure how to test metal, but it weighs 14.38g

The piece looks like a corroded/cleaned medal.

The artist's signature is sharp enough to suggest that it isn't a cast piece.
