I have a similar Italian/German ring. It is scheduled to be in Gaspare's ring book when it comes out (hopefully) shortly.

I wonder if these were worn by italians or by germans?

North African theatre Souq made to cater both armies no doubt!
Hence the to 2 symbols incorporated in the design.

Both. There were Italian SS....and Italians who could have worn this type.
There are rumors the book will be published posthumously if not soon.

I'm sure the book is on its way soon... And this is definitely a known piece, Italo-German is a good way to put it- some are really nice, others are a little more worn or basic- imo it was more likely worn or owned by as u mentioned Italian soldiers but I imagine Germans had them too, just more likely North African or Italian made and owned. It's a very attractive style ring- nice examples here!

the book has been done for a few months now. Went to a publisher I liked but they wanted to cut it down, not as much color as I wanted and some other things I didn't exactly like etc. IF I'm going to do this after all this time I want it all, square bound, glossy color photos etc. 2nd publisher wasn't so sure about it, something about a small market etc.
With everything going on in my life I'm not going to pay for anything and want it the way I want it. I've been told there are other ways of getting it out there. So over the Summer I have some hard decisions make about it.

As far as these 2 rings. The first is the mans, the 2nd has been called the womans. From my research all I could find out they were for civilians [soldiers I guess too] for the times when Hitler or Mussolini visited each other either in Germany or Italy. There were many items,,rings, cigg cases, fobs, hankies etc.

I was rummaging thru my picture files and ran across this one. It will be in Gaspare's book. The box of course in not original to the ring.

It seems that mine is exactly the same as yours James, just in heavily worn condition. I had always assumed mine was localy made with so little detail and the bad proportioning of the swastica.
As it is a battlefield find, I dont think the term "womans" version is correct.

Hi JL,,yes they call it the womans version. I've seen 15 or so and most were a small size [but maybe for a small man!].. OR the soldier had bought it for his 'darling' or Mom etc. and they never got it!
What ever,,they are nice rings and hard to find in the condition that Jims is in..

                        Ring

Nice ring. Many years ago I was given a ring like yours by a US veteran who landed fought in France in 1944. He said he got it from a German soldier
