"six italians, dressed in rather unusual diving suits and equipped with materials of laughably little cost have swung the military balance of power in the Mediterranean in favour of the Axis".

Thank you! These are being sold on eBay out of Italy. They are supposedly unused and discovered in an old building. The seller has a few. Guess I'll pick one up.

          Yes, a good one.

The Linificio Canapificio Nazionale was built in Cassano d'Adda in 1873. It occupied 120,000 square meters and had dozens of warehouses, workshops and offices. It was closed in 1995 after a slow decline and now lies in complete degradation. It took this name in 1920, after the merging with the companies Manifatture Riunite and Corderia Nazionale and in 1921 it established his headquarters in Milan. Another office is still active in Villa d'Alme under the Marzotto Group, as a trademark while the output takes place in Tunisia and Lithuania. There were also other factories in Fara D'Adda, Crema, Reno, Lodi, Debba, Ronco Scrivia, Viserba, Vimercate, Oreno, Concorezzo, Pontevico, Sampierdarena, Borzoli, Melegnano, S. Angelo Lodigiano (Milan), Montagnana (Padua), Frattamaggiore (Napoli), Crocetta Trevigiana (Treviso) and even a commercial agency in Buenos Aires, but they were all closed. The Lodi factory has been partially restored.

The example of an invoice of 1934:

A postcard of the Vimercate factory:

Another sad example of the irreversible decline of the old Europe.
