      Hallo gabe

Silver medal for military valor = srebrna kolajna za hrabrost
It was designed by Ivo Kerdić and was granted for personal bravery in combat.

      big medal (1942 - 1945): diameter 41 mm.
On the circumference there is the silver purity punch 800/1000 of the independent Croatian state (the goose with raised wings and curved neck, in an elongated octagon). Next to it there is a small mark of the producer (Teodor Krivak).
There are later versions that do not have the punch and are only silver plated.

small coin: diameter 35 mm. Initially (1941 - 1942) with the Kingdom of Yugoslavia's punch (a rooster in an hexagon). Towards the end of the war (1944 - 1945) some specimens appeared which were forged in alloy (so-called War Material = silver plated Zinc). On these medals the letters of the inscriptions are taller and more distant from the edge than the previous model. It is not known exactly when the Croats began to use weaker materials to coin these medals, but certainly in the years 1944/1945.

Source: Boris Prister "Odlikovanja Nezavisne Države Hrvatske", Hrvatski Povijesni Muzej, Zagreb, 1997, pages 44/47.

Consequently you have to measure the diameter of the coin and look for the punches. If they are not there, it may be that it is a late-war specimen and then you have to compare this medal with some images of the previous silver model.

From what I see, possibly (please note: not probably) yes.

What is the seller's asking price?

I must say that, at this price, even a copy, if well done, it would not be a bad deal and it seems to me very strange such a low price for an original medal, perhaps silver 800 coined, whereas the NDH Croatian objects are very sought after and expensive.

You must consider that according to the available data of the NDH War Ministry were bestowed a total of 9026 small medals, including 4974 in the years 1944 and 1945, and therefore presumably largely made of war material (plated alloy). The large medals must then have been much lower in number.

Another one. If real, a late-war silver medal in my opinion:

The above posted medal is a small one made from silver, as given also sometimes to German soldiers.
As I wrote before: the pics of Your medal are too bad to be sure if it's an (alloy)-original or not!

                    Kind regards again, Peter

This medal is from Hungary, and there is not a big market/interest for Croatian items from ww2. The seller is interested in many military medals from WW1 and WW2, he hasgot many other medals from other countries as well, but just this one from Croatia. I think I will give this money for this medal. If it is a copy, it is not abig loss. And I try to ask for some more detailed photos.
                      Thank you Gentlemen!

                          Hello!
I got some infos from the seller. The diamater of the medal is 35mm, so according to its diamater it is a small coin. BUT, he said, there is also a silver purity punch and a TK (maker) punch. The TK punch can be found 2 times on the medal. Is it possible? Because of these infos, it seems so, it is a mixed medal? TK punch can be found just by the big medal?

                            Hallo gabe

                            You are a lucky guy

TK (Teodor Krivak) was the maker of both the types of medals.

With these information, now we know that it is an original small silver medal.

Grab it as soon as possible.

As to complete my information and your knowledge on the Croatian NDH awards' topic, there is another book about by authors Borna Barac & Sinisa Pogacic Odlikovanja i Znakovje , Nezavisne drzave hrvatzke 1941 - 1945. From this source I discovered that silver medals were produced also with another maker’s mark: a small point and the letters BK for Braga Knaus (Knaus Bros.). The late-war medals with a poor silver content were made without the purity punch.
