My 2nd Italian 3rd Regiment, Savoy Cavalry Tunic

Well I just received this one, so glad to have another one in my collection. This one came with the riding breeches too. Can anyone help make out the signature on the label?

    Thanks.

          Hallo controbanda

This is a nice confirmation. Unfortunately, since all were wearing winter coats it is hard to tell about the groom's rank, if not deducing it from the metallic thin-fringed epaulets, which were for junior officers.

Since the movie was filmed in December 1931, the officers still wore the uniform with the high and closed collar. At this point, however, there is, at least for me, a little doubt that could only be clarified by some research at the Visconti's Family or at the Ministry of Defence: Is he the same person? I think positively about (although I'm not a genealogist), but I note that at this point he was a lieutenant at least for ten years, unless, after the first appointment service, he was temporarily dismissed from the Army and then recalled to duty shortly before the war. As I said, it should not be difficult to know his military history, considered the ancient nobility and the still present reputation of his family and the fact that the documents of the officers are kept in the Ministry of Defense. In conclusion, I say this because the wedding is 1931; the jacket is 1939; the ribbon on the left shows two stars for a two-year campaign 1940/1941.

          Best regards

hello enorepap, your post is really interesting and accurate, Im quite sure is "count "Edorardo that in the 1931 was exactly 23 years old (was born in 1908), and probably was recalled in the army during WWII , meantime as his brother Luchino Visconti (the famous filmmakers) he was probably involved in his family business .
As you know ,especially in that period, this "surname" was only conferred to this "patrician"family of Milan, nobody else could name itself as "Visconti di Modrone"....
..I think Jhonz138 will start an accurate investigation after this lucky shot...
            cheers

I quote from well estimed member ARDITO:

MINISTERO DELLA DIFESA - Direzione Generale per il Personale Militare - v° Reparto 11^ Divisione Documentazione Esercito - Viale dell'ESERCITO n° 186 - 00143 ROMA ITALIA.

I suggest our friend Jhonz138 to specify that the request is motivated by historical research and, perhaps to save some time, ask for the Military Attache at the American Embassy in Rome that he should send it the office of destination.

Thank you for the information everyone. I can't really find much info on Edoardo Visconti di Modrone. So he was a Count? Anyone supply more info on him? or sites I can read up?

I would like to investigate further on this, but it seems really difficult since I'm in the US.

ARDITO requested info mid to early last year from the MINISTERO DELLA DIFESA about my other 3rd Regiment Savoy Cavalry Tunic of Alfredo Bonavera. But last I heard he has heard nothing yet.

In the pic of the signature below, what is right before the Edoardo?
