    Interesting AXIS photo Ostfront

Interesting AXIS photo Ostfront, found on the web...

Shows Wehrmacht troops with a Japanese officer and a Hungarian officer
in front of a POW cage with Russian troops!
The picture is from 1942. The officer described as Hungarian actually has a German officers side cap
with soutache clearly visible and his double clay officers belt looks German???

Look German to me. Nothing about uniform look Hungarian and part of breast eagle is even visible.

Very interesting photo NickG...some sort of military mission with the Jap officer!..to me it looks like a German tunic..Summer issue by the lighter shade of cloth..cheers .

The dude on the right looks like wearing a German uniform, possibly a lightweight custom tailored tunic. I'd expect two front buttons and no distinctive German "silver" piping on his supposedly Hungarian o/s cap.
I'm curious on the lettering on the Jap's brassards. Could it be a specialist reporter rather than a military observer?

He is 1st. Lt. Sunji Sasamoto at the Hungarian War Correspondent Company!! The armband is a green one, with red border and white letters HADITUDÓSÍTÓ SZÁZAD (war correspondent company, in Hungarian)
The chest sign is a winged torch.

Good info. The Officer in the light colored tunic was described as Hungarian in the caption which is wrong. He is indeed a German officer. My guess is Administration...
