    Spanish Medal - help please

I wasn't too sure where to post this question, so apologies if it's in the wrong section.

Could someone please let me know whether this medal was awarded to Germans serving in Spain during their civil war? If awarded where they authorized to wear it along side their German decorations.
    Thanks, Jeff

A nice example of a 'Type 1' Spanish Civil War medal minted by Egana. Yes, these medals were awarded to Germans (and Spaniards and members of other countries supporting Franco) serving in Spain, and waters surrounding Spain. The medal could be worn on the German uniform with other medals.

Interesting to note that when Germans wore the ribbon on a ribbon bar, most opted for a traditional German cross-swords device to denote combat service. However, such a device was never authorized for the medal/ribbon by Spain.
