    Hi,
    nice knife.
Imho the scabbard in the first pict , that has the knife inserted in, appears to be repainted.
The other more used should be ok. Have a look if there is no other black paint under it, but from what I see it should be ok.

I think that the first scabard is wearing the factory applied paint.
      Paint is nearly mint condition.
      Regards.

The factory painting was more a glossy black as the scabbard with the paint damaged, not matt black , Im with Argan the scabbard in "mint condition" is repainted.

Did they continue to make these knives after the war?

Yes,Dennis good copies,to be checked using std war dimension.
The knife was not manufactured after war and also a"limited" issues during wartime
I think is better to move the discussion on waf blade forum because to me this knife has probably other issue to be investigated.
              Ciao

What other issues? Can you expand on this?

Also, how do you mean "Limited issue"? I've seen quite a few period RSI era photos of soldiers with these knives.

Other issues: has it the standard dimension of the original model ,yes/no ? Is the Gray shade of your blade due to the photo! Or the real shade is as steel one ?, on blade forum you can investigate with the best blade collectors
Limited issues "-" i would like to explain all uniform or of italian WWII army, but it take 11 books of my library so Generally all soldiers has a bayonets, combat knife (mod 39) given to Assault troops and parĂ  unit .

...and more this is not a RSI knife, it is a Regio esercito knife, used on Rsi period mainly by brigate nere , and obviously by soldiers that receive it in the Re army.
                    Ciao again

Thanks you, I know this isn't RSI knife but as I stated in my post I see this model knife a lot in RSI era photos. That was my point.

Sorry , one post was missing:
you are right the knife was used in Rsi era expecially by Fascist of brigate nere and legione autonome due to they like the style, that recalled the first Fascist era and also to have a strong and terrific apparence, but in realty it needed a strong skill to use it.
                          Ciao

The glossy appearance of the paint is not the typical finishing of wartime black paint for these scabbards. If you have a look there is lack of details, so paint should be very thick.
There are many copies of these scabbards; but also many damaged or rusty scabbards are plasted and then painted so to have a "mint" appearance.

This is my opinion; obviously I have not the scabbard im my hands..!

                              Cheers
