Unusual and out of the rules metal badge on a M.33 steel helmet. Metal badges have been used on the Adrian style helmets previously used in the 30's, but not after on the '33s.PaoloM

IMHO an early Spanish used m33 (early because of the 2 holes to fix the Spanish eagle), repainted after the SCW and Italian badge added by some "collector".

OK but in Paolo s book on helmets page 455 you state metal emblems were introduced for all headgear, helmets included ,that remained in use up to 1933.Could this not be a very first m33 in 1933 to have a metal badge and then it was stopped..ie only used for a short time .Also Il Duce Bodyguard had metal badges on their m33 at that time and didnt the RSI have metal skull badges on their helmets during the war?

I am in agreement . Spanish badges added after the SCW then removed, repainted and italian badge added.

This only applied m16 and m16/20 helmets.
Already the m31 helmet came without metal badge.

                  I don't think so.

Mussolinis bodyguards were indeed the only ones that had metal badges on their m31 and m33 helmes.
AFAIK no metal badges on RSI helmets.

I agree with Tankredi, in fact the metal badges remained for all the headgear, except the steel M.31s and M.33s. Those of the Moschettieri del Duce were the only exceptions with the new rules of the MVSN but only for these élite troops.Royal Army,Royal Navy, Royal Air force never had metal badges applied on.During and after the SCW, the Spanish Francoist units sometimes bore the Spanish metal emblem when using the steel M.33s.We're only talking about steel helmets.PaoloM
