Unknown badge in photo

Hi,

I am trying to establish which regiment this SS-Gebirgsjäger Untersturmfuhrer
served in.

He is wearing an unknown medal above his left pocket. It looks like the Croatian Order of the Iron Trefoil 4th Class but probably is something else.

Here is a picture of the medal. Does someone recognize it? I put the Croatian Order beside it to compare.

Yes you have right order is croatian Iron trfoil with oak tree 3 or 4th class. SS off. can be from SS Prinz Eugen.

Yes,is it Croatian order- Iron Trefoil 4th class WITH oak-tree twiglets.But....,we can not possibly know if is from PE,or Handschar,or Skanderbeg,or....

Maybe I should have shown the whole photo. His father was a KM Beamten.
Would this narrow down the Regiments he served with?
