    I like it and is old in my opinion, is the first time I see one like this, not Alpini, I would say a field partisan badge if made if made during IIW.

          Ciao Nessuno,

          So this patch is for the "Army of the South" which were the Italian troops that fought on the side of the Allies from 1943 -45?? Could this patch be for one of the special Alpine Pack Mule Transport Units that supported the Allies...ex-Alpini volunteers who led trains of mules carrying ammunition, rations, fuel and other supplies up to the front lines?

          I found this in an Italian book "Uniformi E Distintivi Dell'Esercito Italiano Nella Seconda Guerra Mondiale 1940-1945," but can't read Italain. Can anyone supply more information in English?

            Wow very cool. That explains the brown backing, for the Commonwealth Battle dress uniforms which the Italians of the south were issued!
