      the mess kit is an M.32.The soldier was of the class 1924 (or 1927)?PaoloM

        thanks, gentlemen. glad you like it. didnt realise he was a soldier so early. maybe the date on the kit is his birth date, so he'd be around 19 years old at the time italia changed sides and went with the allies in 1943.

                      other italian messkit has different features-back hinge and handle side fixtures. maybe these are the model distinctions between the two italian messkit types.

                        I have seen info on the Modello 1872, 1882, 1885, 1896 and 1930, of which only the Modello 1930 is made of aluminium.
                        So to me seem the last 2 M.30's with a production variation?
