    Italian Camo cover

I found this photo of an Italian wearing a camo cover supposedly in the Balkans 1943.

I found it unusual as it looks to have an elasticized drawstring but possibly loose fitting with a drawstring.

Any discussion on these would be interesting.

He is the man on the far right as noted by his uniform.

It is not an issued cover as it doesn't fit the helmet. All the issued covers were well shaped to smoothly fit the helmet.

Could it be a German cover that the soldier 'borrowed' so to better mix with his German comrades?

Could it be a piece of a telo tenda or another camouflage cloth that has been 'field modified'?

Sure it could be any of the above including not placed on the helmet correctly.
I cannot identify the pattern for sure from the photo.
