Only for replacements. Not only badges but also foreign decorations.

    Regards

Thanks for posting your pic and commenting! Why were foreign badges poduced in Gemany? Was there such a great need for replacements? Or did German firms produce these for other airforces like the Rumanian one i.e. for export?

    Cheers, W

      German-made Axis badges etc.

Just to comment on the Romanian pilot badge; my opinion is that it is indeed a Romanian-made pilot badge, although with a different pin setup than the more commonly seen variants. The badge is an exact match to other badges in my possession, down to the characteristic tool-marks to the reverse. (The WWI Romanian observer in Fran's posting has a similar pin...)

However, it is a fact that some German makers made replacement badges for e.g. Luftwaffe personnel who had been awarded Axis awards and flight badges. Nice examples are the ones made by Juncker and Meybauer (e.g., Spanish Nationalist wings, Croatian Legion wings), as well as by Sedlatzek (Bulgarian flight badges).

As far as I know, I do agree that the Bulgarian wing starting this thread is very likely a German-made variant, by the way.

      Cheers,
      Mikael

        ..

        Beautiful badges!!

I have a number of document groups to Luftwaffe flyers with these badges as part of their awards so it is always nice to see the actual pieces.

        Nice collection!

                              Very nice looking badges

Can't comment if real or not but Finnish pilot badges were originally issued with a screw. Surely this can be jeweler modified (or even made in Germany) to fit German type badge loops.

The Finnish Pilot badge in this thread is a POS, not even close to an original............
