Italian Commemorative Medal. General Johannes Block.

Hello Guys what do you think of this Commemorative medal.
The inscription in Italian says simply - general Giovanni(deutsch.Johannes) Block. 294 german division. Silver 800. Diameter of 40 mm, a thickness 3mm.
In September, 1942 294 infantry division Wehrmacht under command of gen.-major J.Block has been given 2 Italian army corps "Alexandria" which was at war in Russia.
What is this? Commemorative medal for the General of the fighting in the part of the second Italian corps. Or personnel of the medal in memory of the commander.
    Thanks for the help Valery.

"six italians, dressed in rather unusual diving suits and equipped with materials of laughably little cost have swung the military balance of power in the Mediterranean in favour of the Axis".

      Hello, Raffaello!
      Thank you for questions.
The medal don't have signs of ring. Only hallmark A 800.
      Valery.
