Italian Key from U.S. Translator Vet

Hello all!

I'm new to the Italian side of the WAF, so forgive me for a goofy post... I just purchased a grouping from a U.S. WWII Vet who was Italian born in 1909. He spent the War as an "intrepreter" in Co. H, 2675th Regt.

Anyhow, what is this big 'ol key for? Any help w/ the tag would be great! It's pretty big, over 7 inches (that's what she said). Maybe to a prison cell key?

This is a key to a "powder keg" or storage of ammunition or explosives.
Luggage Number 28 of Castello Maggiorita.
