Italian SS Insigna

Just found this insigna, the rank tab with this rank pip, can be correct for the italian SS? different from the type normally encountered in the Waffen SS rank tabs..opinions are welkomes.

The SS eagle is definately the Italian made and is correct. The red tabs look good and could have been issued to Italian SS but not sure if they are specifically Italian manufacturered or just standard German surplus tabs. The red color background looks different from the eagle.

German surplus of what? They arent LW or SA they had red tabs, but in wool and felt, this material was used later in the war about 42\43 , my doubt are on the metal pip
It'isnt the standard type used by the Waffen SS, but I noticed that the Italian SS used also different. Metal rank tresse for tabs and sleeve rank, so I have a doubt about the rank pip. Best Lorenz

I see many original uniforms WSS with normal pips ..
if this is the problem you sleep with serenity.
I think the Italian WSS volunteers were probably issued surplus of Flak tabs
and Landschutz.
I don't think for the really short time that they were red tabs specifically production
made for the Italian WSS.
