As I stated in a previous post my great-grandfather lost one of his brother in Russia. The man was a NCO and was very highly regarded in his unit. That's why he got a solemn funeral to wich my greatgrandfather had the chance to take part. Here are some pictures.

In the same hungarian war cemetery there was a small area reserved to the fallen german comrades, that can be seen in the lower pic.

A last pic from my great grandfather, posing with some comrades.
One seems to be a foreign volunteer of the Wehrmacht.

Let's go ahead in my family history.
This office, a Csendor, was the godfather of my grandfather, and a very good friend of my great-grandfather.
His name was Voloncs István kézdiszentléleki
Here is portrayed as Major, but later he raised to the rank of colonel.
I found some info about him here:

The man was married to a noblewoman with a very important name for the hungarian history: Andràssy.

His son Voloncs György, nemes kézdiszentlélek was an officer too; in the first picture we can see him with the mother and with another young man (i don't know who's him, maybe a brother), while in the second picture shows the junior officer in action on the field.
Born in 1912, he entered service in 1934. He took part to the campaigns of 1938, 1940

György was executed by the communists shortly after the war, as he refused to swear to the new regime.
              Here he is:

              http://www.hm-him.hu/rang/cd/1940/ta...0&talalkod=203
              http://www.hm-him.hu/rang/cd/1941/ta...1&talalkod=189

              http://www.hm-him.hu/rang/cd/1944/ta...4&talalkod=166

The only thing not clear is that in the online sources he is described as an infantryman, while in the picture he looks like a HUSSAR!

                Hi Ironcrown,

Really cool pictures you have from your family album, but the Uniform which you think is a Hussar is actually a gala dress, it was worn by infantry officers as well. So he might be an infantry first leutenant.
Your last pic is awesome too. thanks for sharing.

Yes I know it's a small gala uniform. Maybe I'm mistaken but as far as I know infantry tunics had two shoulder straps, hussar's only one. It looks like that tunic had only one shoulder strap. Who knows, probably the second one is not visible because the man is slightly turned.
Moreover, the second picture shows the same officer wearing a Pelz-atilla, again a tipical hussar's coat (but probably used also by other officers who bought it on their own).

In the second pic the officer wears an officer rank issued Huszár mente. That's a typical cavalry wear during the 2nd ww also.

The radio operator seems to have an Edelweis on his cap, which indicates, that he is (and the others also after their clothes) hegyi (Gebirgs) EM.

I have to say no, as a mounted personel he should have an extra loop on the shoulder strap. This feature is missing at all other branches. As Peter said on the other pic, you can see a typical huszár mente, but just as you said it was allowed for other officers as well.
If you have more, pls feel free to post

Unfortunately nothing else to be considered interesting from my family album, but I have some nice pics from my collection.
                        Here we go!

Look at this guy: what an incredible haircut!

Two very early pictures. These can be dated around the early '20s.
The tunics are still WW1 style.

We spoke about hussars... I hope at least these are so!!!
This is another very early picture.

There is an annotation in hungarian on the back: 19th April 1923, before the horse ride.
