Help with Italian black shirts fez

Hi everyone, An antique shop just 3 mins up the road has this old black woollen"fez" for sale. They were told it was Polish and WWI but I have been informed it's Italian and WWII. Can anyone tell me any more about it ?..... is it worth buying, what's the soldiers rank, is it for parade use only, dates of wear etc basically anything would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks guys

Hi again, Well I bit the bullet and bought the fez from the antique shop before someone else did. But I still would really like to know something more about it. Does anyone know anything else they can add?
    Thanks

I am by far not that knowledgeable about fezes, but I will take a shot. The large eagle on the front would note a General grade, but I am not thrilled about the the square cut eagle sewn to the front. It also does not correspond with the rank stripes which would make him LT grade. Also the way the rank stripes are sewn on the side seems odd. Unless its trying to be a Corporal of honor ,but those stripes were different and red backed. Corporal of honor was I believe only 13 men and I would think their fezes would be of the finest quality and workmanship. I really can't see the eagle on the side to make a comment.

Maybe if we could see some better shots of the hat side and interior some of our Italian experts could help

They do make fakes of these, but your could be just rebuilt by someone with a hat and some insignias .

Plus a bad one of interior sorry and a closer one of front gilt thread eagle. The stripes at side has obviously come looose and been re-stitched several times as it is attached with different coloured cotton and in different places!
