All excellent points and no disagreements. I was limiting my discussion to whether the tunic was a wartime pattern. I have stated my concerns, and will leave it at that. I will state once again that I could be wrong. My interest in A.S. is recent and focused more on accurate reproductions than validating individual uniform items.
I have two of these tunics. The one without shoulder straps has a stamp. Unfortunately it is too faint to read. It doesn’t appear to a size marking, but a depot stamp. The tunic with the shoulder strap lacks stamps. Both have plastic buttons, although these buttons are poorly sewn on to the tunic. Several have fallen off with little use. While I have several original g-v items, I don’t have any A.S. clothing items to compare fabric. However, I would rate the fabric of these two tunics as pretty good. Tight weave, smooth feel, resists snagging and tearing.
Again, thanks for the comments.
Pista!
