Hello gents!
I found this italian medal in a local flea market some time ago and although I don't focus on italian items I just couldn't leave it there... I have been trying to identify it for some time, but without success... I couldn't find anything about it in my reference books and internet search hasn't been that fruitful, either. There is nothing written on it, there is no ribbon and my search has been blind, as I really have no clue...
My gut feeling says it's of civilian nature, mostly because of it's reverse. It seems like there is space for an inscription to be engraved on it, but it's been left untouched. Unissued? Maybe a ribbon has never been attached to it?
I would really appreciate it if you could identify this for me and give me any possible info considering its ribbon, history and rarity (not planning to sell it, although I don't think that I 've found something extra rare ). Sorry for the bad scans, they are not making it's crisp detail any justice.
Thanks in advance, Giorgos
