Would anyone have suggestions on the badge shown ? 65 mm. high & quite heavy , I first thought of an Adrian helmet badge , but have no clue whatsoever . Very well made , but is this even a WW2 badge ? Thanks for any help ..

Help ID unknown Italian bronze badge

Dear Winkelman,
It is indeed a Adrian badge worn by NCO’s and privates of the 8th Regiment Bersaglieri.
These badges were created to replace the earlier stamps on the Modello 1915 and Modello 1916 helmets. 2 different versions of badges existed. This type which was the same as the type worn on the Bustina Modello XI and as decoration of the shoulderboards on the full dress (the difference is the latter has holes in the badge to sewn it on the fieldcap)
The second type was the one published in the Giornale Militare of 1925 in a gold color. The latter was worn by all ranks.
It is not a WW2 badge. These badges were abolished in the 30’s.
