    Bulgarian Royal Police officer uniform

Hi guys, I want to show you my newest and great find!!! Yes, the condition is poor, but it is not important, as this is one of the most rare Bulgarian uniforms! Being probably the most prosecuted and repressed /by the commies/ part of the society, the Bulgarian policemen and their families destroyed at a great scale uniforms, accessories, weapons and even photos postwar.

Speaking of rarity, I talked to an advanced police collector and researcher and he knows only one similar uniform, in the Police museum!

So here it is, a pity for the condition, but I am so glad to have it, despite the bugs

Very Very Cool, and by the way, this is not just an officer, these are General's rank shoulder boards, awesome find!

    Best Regards,
    Dave.

Thank you Dave! In fact it is not that high rank, from what I understand, all the policemen had that Zigzag pattern on the boards - single zig-zag for most ranks and double zig-zag /separated by some kind of line along the middle of the board/ for the highest ranks. The rank of that officer was something like "Police Commander 3rd Grade", which is not among the highest ranks, but yet it is a rank for a District station commander. Ok, these things are not very clear to me, but now that I have it, will try to understand the yerarchy and the exact "height" of that rank in it.

BTW, the letters BDP have the meaning Bulgarian State Police

Theodor those are most definitly General's rank shoulder boards. Perhaps Police had different naming convention aside from "General", pehaps it was "Inspector 1st rank or 2nd rank" but they most definitly equated to General ranks. That particular zig zag shpoulder board braid was specific strictly to General rank or equivilant rank shoulder boards. The officers had plain braid without the zig zags. Company grade officers had 1 vertical stripe and field grade officers had 2 vertical stripes, all on plain metalic braid without any zig zag patterns.
