The more I look at your helmet and the way it is put together I say that it is a WW2 helmet(mid to late war)The way the liner looks and is put together the color of the chin strap and the rivets that hold it togeter the color of the inside of the helmet matches the out side in every way.The paint looks early war but was used up untill the end of the war.I am just not sure about the insg. However when you use lemon pledge it makes the helmet shine and brings out the paint and decal and makes it very clear.A lot of dealers and collectors will use Lemon Pledge to put on German helmet decals because they are(if orig.)aluminum based and the lemon as well as the wax will bring out the decal and it will look brighter and cleaner. The paint that would have been used on your decal should be led based and looks ok but I am not sure if it is orig. or not.I know somebody on the forum will know.

              Sorry Dave,
              IMO the helmet isn't original.
              The stencil is a repro.
The helmet was probably used by Police after the war.
It has the tipical rivets found on these types of helmets...also the chinstrap is repainted with grey-blue-green color...Tipical for a '50s years police reissued helmet.

I would take this advice over my own as this man" knows his Italian helmets".He helped me with a helmet I thought was late war but it was a post war (50's)helmet.It was not the same color as yours but he was right on the money.
