ID on Italian? Long Service medals

    Possibly Italian?

    wartimecollectables,

Yes they are Italian. The medal with the green and white ribbon bears the royal cypher used up until the fall of the Fascist regime in 1943. It is called the "Anzianita di Servizio" or Seniority Cross of the Army and was available to all ranks. The other award bears the RI cypher that replaced the Royal Cypher in 1943 and is also a long service award but I do not think the ribbon is correct. The only Italian medal I can find with that colour ribbon is the "Volontario di Guerre 1915-1918". I am not an expert in this field and this info comes from "Ribbons of Orders, Decorations and Medals" by Guido Rosignoli". I hope this helps and that someone else can verify what I have said.

    Regards,

    Gordon
