Is the pea green on the other helmets the same color as on your metal helmet band of the one you showed. I would like to see one of them. Thanks

Mine also has the green band with some tan overpaint. My opinion is these
helmets are WW2 issue just repainted over postwar. You can see the green also under a couple of chips on the helmet surface

The tan paint dripped on the green band tells me the helmet was never taken apart after the war and refitted like other post war reissues.

Here is an italian helmet in my collection that has seen four different paintjobs at different times Three are italian . The original prewar grigioverde, a sand color and the pea green. The forth was an obvious home spray in deep green.

Before i bought it, the original layer was wonderfully restored back to it's original paint while the inside was left alone and untouched. No other markings then the crown are present on the interior.

I agree. It is an original WWII M.33, refurbished and issued after the war.Nothing to do with the African campaigns. PaoloM

They're now obsolete. They were used till the arrival of the kevlar/composite models
in the late 80's by the Italian armed forces. These helmets, mint unissued, used and in bad conditions are now in various depots of Italy, like this.PaoloM
