Spanish Award For Identification.help!

Dear All,

Please find a very nice Spanish Cross, that I have never seen.
This cross belongs to an Italian friend, who told me that this Cross/Award was given to an Italian Volunteer, during the Spanish Civil War...
As I have never saw a cross like this, I would like to know more info about this one.

Indeed a Spanish War Cross of the 'type' awarded for service in the Spanish Civil War. Yours is a nice and unusual example - I've never seen one with enameled arms of the cross before, and I believe the extra bar on the bottom arm means a second award (?); perhaps it's a custom piece made in Italy. Can you post a photo of the reverse?

In my humble opinion this cross is not from the Spanish Civil War, but of much later vintage.
