    WWI Italian Gas Mask Carrier?

Am I correct in thinking that this is an Italian WWI gas mask carrier for the cloth-type gas mask? The size is 9" X 6" X 1 1/2" (22.8 cm X 15.3 cm X 3.8 cm) and completely unmarked.

Also, if it is, what is the proper Italian designation for this pattern of mask?

    Thanks!

    Eric

IMO it is a case for something, not for an Italian WWI gas mask.
I'm posting an Italian WWI Polivalente Z gas mask with metal carrier.
The carriers could be made also with cardboard or wood oilcloth covered,
bearing the same first hand instructions:'Chi si leva la maschera muore!Tenetela sempre con voi!' (Who takes away the mask dies!Keep always
that with you!).It exists also a grey cloth case, for officers. Cheers, PaoloM

Thank you very much Paolo and Theodor! The only photographs I've seen of the Italian mask and carrier have been very poor. I originally got this as a French case for a dispatch book and a map, but after seeing it I wasn't as certain. Beautiful mask by the way! I'd LOVE to find one of those some day!
