Well, would like to complete the whole picture by presenting the badge in its original case:

"six italians, dressed in rather unusual diving suits and equipped with materials of laughably little cost have swung the military balance of power in the Mediterranean in favour of the Axis".

          Italian pilots wings

Sorry to bump this back up but I found it quite fascinating.

Does anyone know were there list of Luftwaffe pilots who were awarded these wings???

It appears that cooperation or operations with the RA was a trigger to receiving this decoration.

I ask becuase I have a group to a LW flyer who clearly shows the Italian pilots wings on his tunic however there is no document nor indication in his Soldbuch as to when this award was given to him. I have all his award documents, unless perhaps this one went astray, but noticed that the wings were award with a document.

          Thanks for your assistance.

          Regards

          Jeremy
