A nice diploma of the 8. Bers. Reg.

Her´s a nice diploma of an Sergente of the 8. Bersagliere regiment.

This regiment came together with the Ariete division and the troops from Rommel´s DAK in North Africa and fought togehter till May 1943.

This Regiment fought as the "Kampfgruppe M" or "Kolonne M" under directly order of Rommel.
At 8. April 1941 at Derna and El Mekili, where it destroyed the 2. British Armoured division. Later they fought with success at Tobruk, Sollum, Ain el Gazala, Bir el-Gobi, Sidi Rezegh, Ain el Gazala, Bir Hacheim, Dahar el Aslag. At El Alamein this unit was much involved and had many casualties.
At 04. Novembre 1942 this unit was virtually destroyed .The few survivors joined the 7. Bers.- regiment. So the story will go one but I will stop now.

I know it´s a low class award but it´s not easy to become no post war documents of Italians that fought in North Africa in this time.

Now I have some questions of this award which I think it´s easy for the Italian experts:

a) was this diploma maybe awarded to a soldier that stayed in the homedepot / homebase in Italy in this time?
When I read the text of the diploma I think so.
b) Become this award everybody or must he directly served at he front?
c) Exist for this award a medal or only the ribon?
I know only the ribbon with the star(s) for every year.

is the diplom for the ribbon (distintivo della guerra in corso)
with the silver stars for every year of war. This is the scan
of WW2 era ribbon color without stars.
In the date 4/11/1941 n°97100 the italian war department establishing
the ribbon of the "war in act"; after reconfirmed in the 3/07/1945.
Finally the medal is established and born only in the 6/5/1959

Hallo Hille.
A) Answer: yes i think what the Bersagliere served on the depot of 8° regiment in Verona where was the home of reggiment in fact the diploma have the Verona citation in the end of january of 1942 the regimen was in Bengasi and i think what the problems was others rispect to do diplomas for the troops
B) Answer: not directly served on the front but stay one year under the Army.
