    My Italian mannequins

    Here are my Italian mannequins.
Lets start with a San Marco Marine, which I've shown before... The helmet is an M33 but post war rebuild/reissue... The correct helmet should have a leather chin strap end anchor stencil... Anyway 1 battalion of San Marco Marines formed a part of the Tobruk garrison after its capture from the British in June 1942!!

      side view

side view. Note rare high capacity canteen and British P08 pattern web set with distinct ammo pouches, as used my all Italian Marines (surplus ww1 issue). When these stocks dried up locally produced Italian copies with different snaps were issued.
      See post 5.

          illustration

Here's an illustration that I'm borrowing from Osprey showing the Italian copy of British P08 web gear, standard with Italian Marines. (Tobruk 1942)

            Period picture

Here's a period picture that I am borrowing from BKG. He had posted it on one of my San Marco Marine threads before, so I am sure its OK to repeat it here!

                  detail

Detail shot, you'll notice that the officer's Bustina is actually artillery related and the uniform engineers (somebody want to trade bustinas?)...so filler item...still looks cool I think (for the time being)!

                          Tropical impression

Here's my tropical impression in rare tropical camiciotto sahariano "pull over" tunic 1st model (so pre M40 2nd type) in "Olona" uniform cloth. Its missing the shoulder straps... and the bayonet frog is (still) empty...
