    Hungarian NCO Tunic and Cap

I just got this set, This one is tailor-made. Note the use of Gemran style rank pips, like SS rank pips. The badge was on the tunic but not sure it it was worn like this in the field? Wounded and WWI service.

close up. I have pants and the boots as well but no images right now. The ribbons have faded but a nice group of awards for WWI service. I am guessing this dates to the mid-late 1930s? I could not find a hat like this in the books, it does not have rank on the side, only the red piping. Any info on branch etc. would be appreciated. I know green is Infantry but can not find a specific collar tab like this one with green on red.

      jhodgson,

What you have is a tunic for the Hungarian Gendarmerie or more correctly in Hungarian Csendor. I posted my tunic like this in a thread a little earlier in this forum. This would be the early type of Csendor cap without a hard style peak. I'll get the url of my other posts and you can look at hats there. By the way, hats are very, very hard to come by.

      Regards,

      Gordon
I'm going to edit this to add the URL of the other thread.

After looking at this uniforms and cosulting with some other collectors here in Budapest I have come to the conclusion that this is not an original Csendor tunic as I said in my original post.

      Regards,

      Gordon
