    M-33 Italian/Falange Helmet

Back in the 70's I was rooting through a pile of Italian helmets in a gun shop.
All of them were wartime surplus painted in the same green. This one caught my eye
because of the chinstrap. Upon closer inspection I could see the yoke and arrows of the Spanish Falange (Fascist Party) somewhat covered by the greeen paint.
I bought the helmet took it home and gently dug out the insignias with some paint remover and a soft cloth. "I did those things back then" .
Here are some pics of the helmet ,insignia and chinstrap.

I am not sure if this was worn by Italians during the Spanish Civil War , brought back to Italy and then used during WW2 or worn by Spaniards issued Italian helmets.

Interesting helm. I wonder how much Italian equipment was given to Spain during the Civil War.

there were plenty of italian helmets uded durnig the civil war, so I think ther could be a good chance that some fell in hnds of the national troops. I lwaus thought that thses were used by the republicans.

I know that there were at leas three types of spanish made helmets, then the german helmets, then som french and then italian

              Hi Dennis,

nice helmet thanks for sharing, your helmet is make
part of the M33 helmets of CTV Corpo Truppe Volontarie
( Voluntary forces) officially the italian government don't
make part in the civil war in Spain, and the italian troops
have spanish insignia, the Flechas of Falange we have
three italian mixed corp of flechas:
              Nere- Azzurre- Verdi
              Black- Blue- Green.
              cheers, Raffaello

Often you can find this kind of helmets with a sort of brown camo paint.

yes, is the tipical paint of the spanish helmet during the civil war
sometimes used on the italian helmets.

the notches on the chinstrap of this one reminded me of a Legion Condor M35 i have. someone said that they were for every month of service, what are your thoughts?
