Some of my Italian Military Relatives

My cousin did a wonderful site on our Italian relatives

Ill just copy and paste her text

On the foto of the plaque is all other offshoot relatives names such as my cousins

Two plaques memorializing those who were lost in World War I (left) and World War II (right) are attached to the front of the Municipio in Lu Lette. Some of these family names probably look very familiar to you. During World War II Lu Lette and La Rocca and the area around them were controlled by the Germans, who apparently maintained an outpost on Blockhaus. For the most part it seems that the townspeople lived peacefully under the German authorities, but there were apparently some partisans who resisted and who hid themselves on Blockhaus and sniped at the Germans, just as in the 19th century they had hidden on the mountain and resisted the government troops stationed there to insure the unification of Italy.
,,You will see my last name Addario on the plaque

Thank You for the compliment, I will visit the village next summer. I will make sure to do some metal detecting at the former GJ kaserne which is in ruins.

Is it common in Italy to still have Mussolini on the walls?? Or is it just because it is a mountain village in my fotos?

                      Dion,
Good stuff! I must ask, did something die on your relative's head in the first picture?

Münster - Thanks for the walk through history...

Hi Dion, the family resemblance to you in the photo captioned "Joe" is very strong.

Photo number 4 will be post 1943 as they wear British pattern battledress. I do not know how long the Italian forces wore this post WW2 though.

                            Cheers, Ade.
