This blanket was found at the end of 1944 in the french Alps. It was found beside the bodies of several dead German soldiers by a youg french civilian. He told me "it was clean, so I picked it up". I guess one of the German soldiers had picked up this blanket in Italy somewhere and was using it.
The man who picked the blanket up later noticed that there were several schrapnel holes in the blanket. You can see they are realy schrapnel holes because they line up with each other when you fold the blanket up. I havent managed to figure out exactly how the blanket was folded when it was damaged though.
I got the blanket straigh from the man who picked it up in 1944. His mother fixed the holes, because he used the blanket on his own bed for a bit.
