    MVSN Visor!

    I have always had a "thing' for the Italian Fascist visors of "il Duce." However, here in the US, most are in very poor connection. Thanks to my "Italian Connection", Carlo, I was finally able to score one and satiate my desire:

    I cannot recall if this is PNF or MVSN, or what rank, etc--it was strictly an impulse buy. I have to hand it to the Italians, for as I told Carlo, they did some of the best Bullion work ever--this eagle is literally 3-D:

        The band has interwoven bevo-style eagles around it, and the chincord buttons have the fasces:

                Surprisingly, the white-top is not removable. Their liner attachment is pretty much the same as the Germans:

                  Anyway, Carlo or Enorepap, if either of you could let me know what rank/organisation this hat is for, let me know--
                  Thanks again, Carlo

                    Hallo Stonemint Good catch!!!

                    Literally, this is the service summer visor for the State Officials uniform. This type of uniform was introduced by Royal decree nr. 1524 of 5.9.1938. The State Officials were divided into three groups:

                    Group A - ranks 1-5: circular black silk band with eagles (from wing to wing about mm. 70); gilt buttons. Front badge (for the whole Group of ranks): Roman gold eagle (mm. 75X54) with closed wings, grasping a lictor fasce with silver axe. Ranks 1-4 wore two intertwined golden cords (diameter mm. 5). Rank 5 (diameter mm. 3).

                    The badge's underneath cloth identified the Administration:
                    white: Presidency of the Cabinet Council
                    dark carmine: Foreign Office
                    crimson: Home Office
                    pink: Justice Office
                    light yellow: Treasury Office
                    scarlet: War Office
                    marine blue: Navy War Office
                    light blue: Air war Office
                    lilac: National Education Office
                    violet: Public Trades Office
                    green: Forest and Agricultural Office
                    iron grey: Communications Office
                    yellow: Chamber of the Corporations
                    bluish green: National Culture Office
                    gold yellow: Currency and Exchanges Office

                    With Decree 14.2.1940 (art.11) the wear of the white visor and trousers was authorized with the blue jacket (winter uniform), also during the summer.

                    I will continue very soon with the regulation for other ranks of group A; all ranks of Group B; all ranks of Group C and subordinate personnel

                      2nd part:

                      Group B: silver eagle and buttons (from February 1940 gold); ranks 6 and 7 wore silver cords intertwined with black silk (diameter mm. 5); ranks 9, 10 and 11, diameter mm. 3;

                      Group C: burnish silver eagle and buttons (from February 1940 gold); ranks 6, 7 and 8 wore black silk cords (diameter mm. 5); ranks from 9 to 13, diameter mm. 3 (from 1940 for all Group's ranks black silk cords intertwined with gold )

                      (to be continued...)

                        The Ministers Secretaries of State, the Under-Secretaries of State and the Ministers of State wore (as for decree 14.2.1940, art.2) the same uniform as the State officials of Group A, rank 1;

                        There were also:

                        - a visor for the field uniform of the technical officials (sand-brown fabric);

                        - a plumb-grey visor with oxidized buttons and eagle and polish black leather peak and chinstraps for subordinate personnel (from 1940, with aluminium buttons and eagle and silk dark-grey cord. Janitors wore a circular silvered sheet around the circumference and a dark grey cord). Same badge's size as the officials. With the summer uniforms subordinate personnel wore a visor from grey cloth fabric (from 1940, with brown silk cord);

                        - a plumb-grey visor with polish peak for chaffeurs. It had a dark-grey rayon striped circular band around the circumference (in italian: millerighe); aluminium buttons and dark grey silk cord; aluminium eagle. With the summer uniform the fabric was raw cloth with brown band and cord.

                        best regards

                          Hi Chris,
                          how I told you ,your hat is for Ministero della Guerra (War minitery) rank 1/3.
                          The wite top is removable for washing ,but is not easy like german's,you must take off the buttons of the chincord ,but I don't suggest you to do because the stitchin is old and can ripp off
                          I think enorepap expert in this field(i'm not) and he can say you that is a wonderful hat
                          Cheers
                          Carlo

                            A last particular. Ancona is the chief town of the Marche region, on the central adriatic coast. I worked five years in Corso Mazzini, one of the main streets of that town. The building you see depicted on the maker's label is the Church of Saint Ciriaco, the town's Patron.

                              Hi Carlo

                              You are right !!! It is a wonderful visor in excellent conditions and very hard to find; it was surely owned by an highest rank's official of the War Office!

                              Bravo!
