          Hi,

Here's what I believe to be an Italian officer's pith helmet. I got it from a collector who stated it came from North Afrika. Sure looks it - nice & faded. Does anyone know which unit is depicted by the insignia?

1st Regt. Bersaglieri, sort of a fast infantry unit considered Elite. Enlisted men wore cockel feathers on their piths and sometimes their steel helmets.

Rommel had good things to say about them during the Afrika Campaign

1st Regt. Bersegliari.... Thank you. Any ideas what its range of value may be?

                right spelling

Sorry I don' want to look rude but the correct spelling is BERSAGLIERI, not bersagliari.
Bersaglio in italian means target in english, and bersagliere is the person that aims on the target.
They are worldwide famous for the black plumes on their helmet.
One of the most famous bersagliere was Benito Mussolin: take a look at him down there. Cheers
