Very cheap fantasy cast of some sort. Is it made of lead?

Quality is just too poor for an official badge of any country I could think of.

That being said it could be a locally made period/field piece but that is a very long shot.

I can understand why you say that.

It is a very light alloy. It has a known provenance back to 1945. It was taken by a British Officer.

        Cheers, Ade.

I should of looked who was posting first Adrian

It is like nothing I have seen before. As for the provenance It might just be a case of memory of a vet not being spot on after 60years.

What is the exact provenance. Did it just come from his/her effects or from the vet personally. Was it period documented? or photographed?

          just curious

Hi Raffaello, thanks for the info I must admit it looks very crude. But I do know the background as to how it was obtained and sent back to the UK.

              Cheers, Ade.

                Hi Ade,

the original badge in Italy in the past years is common is
similar an shield lightweight grey zink pressed, unfortunately
I don't have an photo of my badge I have exchange this.
I have found an photo of the original badge in sale on Hermman
Hstorica catalouge of 2001; I think is important to see the
                great difference.
                Cheers Raffaello
