Found this Italian helmet at a Antique mall. It's not in the best of condition. It's been repainted a couple times. It looks like it was repainted black over the orginal gray - green. Then it was painted a kelly green. Looks like someone stripped the last coat of green off. I don't know much about Italian helmets. My question is about the last coat of green paint. Did the Italians use a helmet paint this color at some point in time? I'm thinking a Kid probably painted it at sometime. Joe

Hallo Joe, yes this one is it a italian m.33, this one was made from 1933 to 1936-37 becaus that ave the nails for the liner of the first type.
From the pics i can see very well the colors of the helmet because that i think be the first pre-bellic green(light green) i see like a sand color!!
The second green (bottle green) is it not right for a helmet used during the WW2 if are know old helmets with pre-bellic colors repainted in dark grey green color during the WW2
The last paint i see like a black color, is it right?
On the front something similar to a bagde, so i think like you think a childrens or a carnival work! I think what a good clean of this orribles colors this one can be a good italian helmet!!Last edited by Lafitte; 11-22-2006, 10:15 AM.Comment

It was painted black over the orginal light green paint.

Yes in this case the last green is it a modern paint.
About black that looking modern too, because is it on the damages of the light green,
Probably someone wants to do a Black Shirts helmet!!!
In real during the 30 years lot of helmets for the Blacj Shirts was paint black on the green color but always on the front the dark yellow badge!!
This one with a right clean can return in the original conditions!!
Can i ask you what lot of made is it stamp in the steel into the helmet on the rear part near the border? ( ussually letter + number(s))
