    Virtuti Militari

    Hello gentlemen,
Here are some of my Virtuti Militari. Picture One shows:

    L. "Official" wearing version, probably made by Wiktor Gontarczyk.

    R. Nice "official" wearing version produced by French jeweler, possibly DeLande or Bertrand. Officers with a few bucks would have their wearing copies made in France. Kind of a status thing, so I'm told.

          Here's some WWII-issue versions.:

          L. -Late-numbered official version produced by Krupski and Matulewicz. These numbered 10,000+ were originally intended to be awarded to foreigners, but were taken along with the Polish Forces in the West and awarded to Poles in the Italian and North African campaigns.

          R. Palestinian-made field version.

Here are two 4th class VMS.

              L. Issued in 1921 to a Belgian colonel, who's name I forget.

              R. Later issue to a Pole in a Grenadier regiment, if I recall.

I'm sorry this thread is so sloppy-4th class VM #511 went to the Belgian colonel, #150 to the Polish grenadier. I've had a bad day. My University of Michigan Wolverines lost to Ohio State University today (because they cheated), and I'm highly depressed. Oh God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
