Italian tropical cap

The boys over on the British forum said I should post this here. I got this from a US vets wife,who said her husband brought it back from Africa.
Some help please on the patch,cap and approx. value.

Hi You have a model 42 tropical bustina(sidecap) badged for the infantry it is a rare cap app. value 350-450 $ Even if you do not collect Italian Afrika hang on to it.I have a earlier model tropical bustina from a vet, can't get any better. Brian

Yes Brian say a rigth thing!!
That model of sidecap is it for the troop, not are very common to find, this one have the infantery badge on the front!
A good piece for a collection of italian militaria!!!!

The cap is it in very good conditions! The sidecap whas used in sud Italy too during the summer months. also durig the RSI era with lot of italian tropical uniforms (sahariana jackets etc..)

Ohh my God Mark a good question!!
I can say what sometimes on ebay or in italian markets you can see some of this, usually is it more sample to find the officer models than that of the troops.
Officers: mobile shoulder boards.
Troops: sewing shoulder boards in the same cloth of the jacket.
In the past years lot of this come from military depots or similars so today this are in the collections.
In the your case you must find a troop model because the officers have a different side cap.
Another problem are the sahariana made and used after the war: in Somalia (until the 60 years) or from another corps in Italy.
Real WW2 sahariana have the same cloth of the your side cap, a strong cotton cloth in sand color that what not have this particolarities are all suspect.
I not think what a real italian sahariana tropical jacket are a rare piece, but when you looking for one you can't find it!!!!

Just a size mark T 58 and the owner initials L Z,interior is unlined
