Numbers on shoulderboard

I would like to know the differences btw the smallest one and the golden bigger one pleasse?
Could the golden be worn by officers (verwaltung) and the other by NCO's?

Insofar as possible, if someone own a number 8, please feel free to PM me!

Sample board

Here is an example of a sample board of NCO and enlisted shoulder strap and tradition insignia in #1642. You can see both the large and the small style numbers present. It would be much easier to place small numbers on straps with cyphers and multiple pips.

Some of the pieces you have look to be of the painted variety, where the number or cypher was painted in the same Waffenfarbe, of the unit, that the strap wearer would have been assigned to. Expamples white painted=infantry and red painted=artillery.

Small color numbers on two side clip-on earrings were put on shoulder straps of privates and NCO prior to war. Such color numbers were in military units of the military districts which are under supervision. Never saw only green and claret (for troops of fog) numbers, it is possible them and was not. And there were also small color letters.
