DAK group - DAK ring

Hi,
not sure were to put this....this small group from a Luftwaffe Unteroffizier came in in directly from the famely


He served with the Afrika Korps and was taken POW in May 1943 at Cap Bon in Tunis. He spend most of his POW in the USA and was released in 1946.


The group contains mostly POW documents and a very nice and original DAK ring

Nice, it would be interesting to know which Luftwaffe (?) formation he served with.

Nice grouping! Sibert, AL is close to the city of Mobile. Many Afrika POWs came to Alabama. There is a museum in Aliceville, AL that has a POW exhibit.

This is an interesting book on the subject; I don't know if it has been translated into other languages though.

the ring is a nice period piece...

Cigg case has the English spelling on it. This exact design you will see occasionally on auctions.. His inventory shows nothing...Hopefully the group has always been together.. Seems to be a nice group....

strange they are always shown DAK I941 in that format. never seen one like this ring witch reads 1941 dak.. hope i'm wrong about this ring, but who knows

Think I saw this in another area.. His records show his personal belongings as like cosmetics etc. But easy to get a ring by....

The Germans made them,,the Italians made them, and made in Tunis and surrounding areas by the locals... But usually DAK 1941 or a variation of...

,, its obvious it is hand done.. Has the neillo,,the low content gold flash to the front,,the proper hallmark...
IF +/- 100 were made this way certainly possible there are only a few floating around.. WAF, GDC and the rest aren't the world even though there is international membership..
It is what it is...
