    DAK Wachmantel

Hello just wanted to share my new find, it's a quite rare Tropical great coat.
I hope you like it. I think it's an identical twin of the one in this thread, maybe from the same maker as well. Thanks for watching!

It's extremely rare DAK Wachtmantel, as far I can see looks close to mint

Thanks! Actually it was worn a bit, has some small holes, buttons are missing etc. but it's in a really great shape. I will make some more/better pictures about it.

I sold one I had to a curator in Russia and it is on display there in a museum. I thought it was interesting they wanted a DAK item for display there.

Same maker, same month as well
The condition is excellent, I'd say it was civilianised at some point. A bit of needle work and she'll be highly presentable.
I find it strange how under-appreciated these tropical mantels are. Plenty of photos of them in use in Africa.
            Great Catch!

I agree completely. These tropical overcoats were an absolute necessity in the N. African desert. With their accompanying woolen tropical insignia, they are to me very appealing DAK collectibles.

Two tropical mantels together - standard on the right, wachmantel on the left. Although the image is black and white, the grey tones clearly are the same so both are brown wool.

Thanks for the comments and pictures, as said I'm posting some more picture about it. Can somebody tell my what was the purpose of the small button in the middle of the liner?

This was to button down the hood which is missing from both your example and mine. Johhny's retained his. I imagine this was removed as it could be uncomfortable.
Here's my 1943 dated blanket lined mantel which retains it's internal hood which would have been the same.
