    Shoulder Board letter «D»

    Near Stalingrad, I dug up the letter D from the shoulder strap. Tell me what it is

    Typically these devices are stamped and therefore hollow. One would think these "Ds" would be from the regiment" Deutschland" though yours looks more squarish than I remember.

        Being a casting with a pin on the back and of a strange shape it does not even look like a normal military insignia. It might be useful to know which unit(s) were in the location where you found this.

          That is odd, IMO it is not for a shoulder board. It may actually be older than WWII era.

            I just remembered seeing things like this as monograms on leather map and attache cases etc.
